Get to know your therapist
Geoff Phillip

Hello, my name is Geoff. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor in Colorado. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2015 with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have been practicing counseling and psychotherapy ever since. My approach is grounded in a variety of theoretical orientations, most notably being Internal Family Systems (IFS), Interpersonal Process (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and narrative counseling. I believe that a collaborative approach, grounded in humanistic beliefs and practices, are a powerful approach to healing. If you select me as your counselor, expect to be gently challenged, supported, and pushed toward the best version of yourself you can be. A dad joke will likely find its way in, as well.

When I am not being a counselor, I find purpose and meaning within the creation of music. I have been a piano player since I was a child and have been singing since I could talk. I have sung in community and professional choirs since I was 15 years old. I am also a huge nerd at heart. You can often finding me grinding away at the latest expansion or raid series of FFXIV, exploring Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom, or reading the latest Brandon Sanderson novel. Fantasy has always been an escape for me and has influenced my creative approach to counseling. Art has, and always will be, a source of healing, inspiration, and passion and it is just at home in the counseling room as it is in a museum. Expect pop culture references, galore, as we work through your concerns in therapy.
Experience
Experience and Qualifications
The program I graduated from was CACREP-accredited at the time. This means that it was approved by a leading governing body to be a high-quality program and one that produced highly trained and effective counselors. My coursework, practicum and internship experiences, and life experiences have all equipped me with a powerful lens when working with the concern brining you in for therapy. My practicum was in a live-supervision clinic, shown in research to be a powerful preparation for young counselors. I did my internship at North Range Behavioral Health in an outpatient clinic working with a variety of issues. After graduation, I became a counselor at an acute treatment unit and crisis center, working with people at some of the darkest periods in their life. I started my private practice in 2020.
